Accountabilities, Supplier Quality Manager:

  • Provide strategic leadership relating to supplier selection, development and ongoing supplier performance
  • Manage suppliers relating to quality and other performance metrics
  • Develop and implement supplier management policies and procedures
  • Develop and introduce leading edge supplier-related systems and approaches
  • Lead problem-solving teams and provide technical assistance support during root cause analysis and corrective action implementation with suppliers
  • Voice of the Customer
  • Work closely with supplier, Commodity Management, Purchasing, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality in all aspects of supplier management
  • Provide guidance to international SPX facilities regarding supplier management

Responsibilities – Sourcing Engineer

  • Work with Commodity Managers to assess new suppliers for manufacturing capabilities and ability to interface with engineering systems and SPX practices. 
  • Support Corporate supply chain initiatives/changes.
  • Offer suggestions for new  supply sources for cost advantages.
  • Assist Commodity Managers and Buyers with technical issues as required. Update ERP system data as necessary.
  • Work with suppliers to provide accurate engineering data and documentation for quotes, technical questions, product improvement suggestions, and quality issues.
  • Involved with First Article (FA) initiatives and approvals.
  • Work with engineers and suppliers to review existing product to optimize product design and manufacture for improved costs VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering).
  • Review supplier product cancellations and work with engineering for replacement approval.
  • Understand and operate engineering systems for diagnostics of incorrect documentation, solutions, documentation or information retrieval.
  • Work with Mechanical Engineers for quotes, or bringing product in-house for manufacturing.
  • Work with Sales or Product Managers to identify new product ideas,  product enhancements, and product cancellations.
  • Run reports, track progress, document changes, initiate internal quotes to manage product resources.
